THE NEIGHBOUR
Come stay close.
A new visual identity project born from the idea that today hospitality should no longer be told through spaces, but through people.
For this reason, I created The Neighbour, a hotel in Lisbon where the true asset is not the rooms, but the people who contribute every day to creating an authentic and memorable experience.
The visual identity is inspired by the deconstruction of traditional Portuguese azulejos, reinterpreted as a series of contemporary graphic elements characterized by movement, visual vibration, and fluidity. Traditional geometries transform into waves, evoking the connection between Lisbon, the Atlantic Ocean, and the hotel’s seaside location.
The staff portraits become the heart of the narrative. Each person carries a fragment of the local culture and contributes to shaping the hotel’s identity. The graphic signs inspired by azulejos become a distinctive visual element that expresses belonging, personality, and a connection to place.
This project also stems from a reflection on the role of contemporary brands. Today, brands need to be credible, transparent, and authentic in order to build lasting relationships with people. Trust between a brand and its customers is created through honesty, transparency, and consistency between what is promised and what is actually delivered.
Declared values are no longer enough. What truly matters are the values demonstrated every day through actions, behaviours, and the people who represent the brand. In a market that does not forgive inconsistency, remaining faithful to one’s principles is not only an ethical choice but also a genuine competitive advantage.
For this reason, with The Neighbour, I chose to literally put the faces of the team at the centre of the brand identity. Showing the people who welcome guests is an act of transparency: the brand does not hide behind perfect images, slogans, or abstract promises, but tells its story through the people who embody its values every day.
The portraits therefore become much more than a simple aesthetic choice. They are a statement of authenticity. Each face tells a story, reveals a personality, and expresses a vision of hospitality built on human relationships. Maria, Sofia, Inês, Teresa, and even Bento, the hotel dog, are not characters created for communication purposes; they become the faces of a community that welcomes, listens, and creates meaningful connections.
The result is an ethical, human-centred, and deeply contemporary vision of hospitality, where identity does not live solely in a logo or in physical spaces, but in the people who give meaning to the guest experience every day.
Because The Neighbour doesn’t talk about rooms.
It talks about people.
THE NEIGHBOUR
Come stay close.
danno significato all’esperienza del soggiorno.
Perché The Neighbour non parla di camere.
Parla di persone.
